They're perfect for birthday presents, anniversary gifts, Christmas gifts and Valentine's Day romance - or just to say a well deserved "thank you".

With Activity Gifts if it turns out your friend would prefer a race track day instead of a flying lesson that isn't a problem. Experience vouchers are easily swapped, free of charge. You only pay any difference in price.

Your friend receives the very well presented gift pack and normally has ten months to redeem the Experience Voucher.

Large Corporations have realised the value of Gift Experience by rewarding  performing employees with Days to Amaze experiences.  These unique rewards are better remembered than any equivalent pay out of high street vouchers. These gifts have true value, not just a cost price.

Of course it's not just Activity Gifts offering Gift Experience Days there's Sir Richard Branson’s highly respected Virgin Experience Days and also Exhilaration who have super, kids activities. There’s also Red Letter Days who pioneered the concept of giving unforgettable experiences.

The activities offered by Experience Day providers are not only adrenaline rush adventures, there are spa break indulgences, pampering, relaxing beauty treatments and even a trip in a hot air balloon.

UNICEF helps children receive the support, health care and education they need to survive the threats of childhood poverty - such as preventable disease or malnutrition - and grow up to become healthy adults.

Support their work by visiting their online shop at UNICEF.org/uk a UK registered charity.

They stock a range of items from Christmas Cards, Greeting Cards, Gifts, Calendars & Diaries and Children's Games, books and toys. The big benefit of shopping here is that the money raised helps children around the world.

For example:

10 cards...
can provide Vitamin A Capsules to help protect 80 young children against blindness for 6 months.

20 cards...
could allow UNICEF to provide vaccines to immunise 40 children against measles, which kills almost 800,000 children each year.

60 cards...
could provide 4 insecticide-treated mosquito nets to protect families from malaria.

Unsure of what UNICEF does?

UNICEF helps children receive the support, health care and education they need to survive the threats of childhood poverty - such as preventable disease or malnutrition - and grow up to become healthy adults.

They encourage families to educate girls as well as boys, so both men and women can play a full role in family life and broader society.

They strive to protect children from violence and abuse, and from exploitation through child labour or trafficking.

They protect children in the midst of war and natural disasters, and provide emergency assistance, usually within 48 hours.

Ethical Gifts and Fairtrade Products

Fair trade seeks to transform the lives of poor producers in the developing world by enabling them to use their skills and resources to trade their way out of poverty.

The fantastic charity Traidcraft helps to achieve this, take a look at Traidcraft.co.uk and select Online Shop or go direct to their ethical shop at traidcraftshop.co.uk

What is Fair Trade?

Fair Trade seeks to challenge injustices in trading structures and practices that so often lead to the exploitation and marginalisation of poor people.

Key elements of fair trade - Fair trade sets out to:

• create opportunities for poor producers

• ensure trading practices are fair, both in terms of payment and prices

• ensure that children are not being exploited

• ensure there is no discrimination

• ensure working conditions are safe.

What Traidcraft do:

As an organisation committed to fair trade, Traidcraft:

• focuses on trading with poor and marginalised producer groups, helping them develop skills and sustainable livelihoods through the trading relationship.

• pays fair prices that cover the full cost of production and enable a living wage and other fair rewards to be earned by producers.

• provides credit when needed to allow orders to be fulfilled and pays premiums to be used to provide further benefits to producer communities.

• encourages the fair treatment of all workers, ensuring good conditions in the workplace and throughout the supply chain.

• aims to build up long-term relationships, rather than looking for short-term commercial advantage.

The Fairtrade Mark

Some key fair trade food products can be identified by the Fairtrade logo on their packaging. The logo is certified by the Fairtrade Foundation. Traidcraft is a founder member of the Foundation.

Sales of fair trade products have been gaining momentum in the UK in recent years, and they are now more widely available than ever before. Figures released by the Fairtrade Foundation show that sales of Marked products are worth £300m per year.

Tear Fund.  Who are we and what do we do?

While nearly half the world’s population (2.8 billion people) now live on less than $2 a day and 600 million children are among those living on less than $1 a day – in absolute poverty – there’s no doubt that this situation must change.

We are Christians passionate about the local church bringing justice and transforming lives – overcoming global poverty.

So our ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.

The local church is central to who we are and what we do. If you go to church then part of the solution to poverty is you. We’re asking you to be part of this miracle. Imagine:

…you’re a youth group in Exeter,
who washed cars for cash,
and sent money to Tearfund,
who funded a church in Ethiopia,
to bring education and advice to a village,
which enabled a generation of children to be born HIV-free.

We believe that to be a Christian, wherever you are, is to be called to a life-time’s mission of responding to need here and now – pressing need, the social injustices that need to be restored alongside eternal, salvation needs.

Read more about them at tearfund.org.

Tearfund has unusual gifts on their sister site livinggifts.org.uk

The Gifts you purchase through charities like these, UNICEF /
Oxfam / Traidcraft and Tearfund will have a lasting and positive influence on some of the Worlds most marginalised young and old people alike.

Latest News: Help hatch hope today

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

The chicken provided by CIPCA, of course! Present Aid’s partner in Bolivia has been working in El Beni, the poorest region of the country, to help families there.

They provide families there with 18 hens, two cockerels and training in how to look after them, so they can get eggs to eat and sell. A gift like this could give a family an eggsellent chance of beating poverty.

Go on, think a little differently, and make a real difference - just £31 could provide a brood of chicks which could help to secure a poor family’s future.
